Graduate Education and Industrial Mathematics

Revolutionary advances in technology continue to provide new challenges for graduate education in the applied mathematical sciences. Moreover, new directions in science, engineering, environmental, and education policy coupled with current and long term economic considerations motivate continued review of our graduate programs. The speakers in this session will discuss current efforts in the academic community to incorporate industrial applications and experiences in the graduate curriculum and will provide further insight into the technical skills needed for successful nonacademic careers. Organizer: Robert E. Fennell, Clemson University
