Algorithms in Information Retrieval
Information retrieval is a burgeoning area in which interesting algorithmic issues abound. In this talk, the speaker will review the state-of-the-art in this field, and discuss some emerging applications such as multimedia indexing, search in taxonomies, and semantic indexing. Along the way, he will point out instances where interesting algorithmic issues (of both a theoretical and practical nature) arise, and some approaches that have been employed for solving these problems.
