Anthurium & Ginger (Salon 1 & 2)
The emerging fields of micro and nanotechnology promise to revolutionize every aspect of technology. From smart materials to nanoscale robots, micro and nanoscale devices and materials will impact every area of our lives. Before either field may reach its full potential, an understanding of the complex interaction of thermal, mechanical and fluidic forces on micro and nano scales is necessary. Numerous researchers are approaching this goal through techniques such as homogenization theory, large scale numerical computation and direct modeling of small scale devices. The speakers in this minisymposium will highlight some of these approaches and indicate new directions for research.
