The 1996 Federated Computing Research Conference

Monday, May 27, 1996
The Philadelphia Marriott
Philadelphia, PA

This year the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) will be a part of the Federated Computing Research Conference (FCRC'96). FCRC'96 is an effort to bring together a spectrum of individual computing research conferences and workshops at a common site and time. Registrants at one conference will be able to freely attend sessions of concurrent conferences. In addition, mornings of FCRC week (May 20-28, 1996) will begin with joint plenary talks on topics of broad appeal to the computing research community.

Confirmed meetings at FCRC'96 include:

The FCRC's sponsors include:

SIAM is sponsoring a one-day symposium on Networks and Information Management as part of FCRC 1996. It is co-organized by

Sampath Kannan
Department of Computer and Information Science
University of Pennsylvania

Jill Mesirov
Scientific and Technical Systems and Solutions, IBM and
Department of Computer Science, Boston University

The symposium will take place on Monday, May 27th (Memorial Day) 1996 at The Philadelphia Marriott, Philadelphia, PA.

The symposium will comprise four hour-long talks by invited speakers followed by a panel discussion on ``Networks of the Future.'' There will be broad coverage of research in networks, including such topics as network monitoring and management, network security, network design, and applications. Subtopics include congestion control, routing, switching, fault tolerance, load balancing, data mining, digital libraries, electronic commerce, information retrieval, collaborative scientific computing, etc.

The goal of this symposium is to stimulate research on networks by members of the SIAM and theoretical computer science communities.
