SIAM Southeast Regional
Mathematics in Industry Workshop

October 10-12, 1999
North Carolina State University
Raleigh, NC

The Southeast SIAM Regional Workshop on Mathematics in Industry will be held at North Carolina State University on October 10-12, 1999. This is the fourth Workshop in a series of regional meetings focused on mathematics in industry. Previous Workshops were held at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (May, 1998) and at the University of Illinois, Chicago (October 1998). The third Workshop will be held at the Claremont Colleges in June 1999. These Workshops (funded by a NSF grant to SIAM) are intended to provide a forum for discussion on Applied/Industrial Mathematics Programs. The objectives are to facilitate change in the development of undergraduate and graduate programs and to provide a forum for student presentations and discussion.

The Program for the Southeast Workshop will feature discussions of opportunities for mathematicians in industry, of program initiatives at the undergraduate and graduate level designed to prepare students for non-academic careers, and of the experiences of current and recent graduates.
