SIAM 50th Anniversary and 2002 Annual Meeting

Joint Policy Board for Mathematics Communications Award

The Joint Policy Board for Mathematics (JPBM) is comprised of three umbrella organizations: the American Mathematical Society, the Mathematical Association of America, and SIAM. This award is made in the name of all three mathematical societies. The JPBM Communications Award was first established in 1988 to reward and encourage writers and artists who, on a sustained basis, accurately convey the content and spirit of mathematics to non-mathematical audiences. The award recognizes a significant contribution or accumulated contributions to the public understanding of mathematics.

This year’s recipients: Helaman and Claire Ferguson
