Student Registration Rates
Student registration rates for the meeting are as follows.

ALENEX pre-registration: $30
ANALCO pre-registration: $50

ALENEX on-site registration: $75
ANALCO on-site registration: $95

SODA Pre-registration: $165
SODA On-Site registration: $165

PRE-REGISTERED STUDENTS AND THOSE REGISTERING ON SITE MUST SHOW A CURRENT STUDENT ID UPON CHECKING IN AT THE SIAM REGISTRATION DESK.
Student registration is available for undergraduate and graduate students ONLY. The student rate is not available to post-doctorates.

Student Hotel Rates
A special rate of $100 plus applicable taxes has been contracted with the hotel for students. Rooms available for this rate are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis only. All students will be expected to present a valid Student ID upon check-in at the hotel.

ALL STUDENT ROOMS MUST BE BOOKED VIA E-MAIL ([email protected]) OR BY MAILING IN THE HOTEL RESERVATION FORM. BE SURE TO INDICATE “STUDENT RATE.”

Hotel Room-Sharing Form
A hotel room-sharing form is available for those who wish to share a room with another attendee at the meeting to reduce expenses. If you are interested in finding a roommate, please fill in and submit the Hotel Room-Sharing List Form. SIAM can only give you the name of other interested attendees; it is up to you to make the arrangements.

Best Student Paper Award
A prize of $500 will be awarded to the author(s) of the best student-authored paper (or split between more than one paper if there is a tie). A paper is eligible if all of its authors are full-time students at the time of submission. This must be indicated in the submission process.

IBM Research Sponsors Student Travel Grants
Five awards of $500 each will be granted toward travel to SODA05.

The IBM travel grants are the only travel grants available for SODA05. SIAM Student Travel Awards are not available for this conference.

Any full-time student in good standing is eligible to receive an award plus complimentary symposium registration. Complimentary registration is applicable for SODA05 only; it is not applicable to either workshop preceding the symposium. Top priority will be given to students presenting papers at the symposium, with second priority to students who are co-authors of papers to be presented at the symposium. An application for an IBM travel award must include:

1. A letter from the student describing his/her academic standing and interests, his/her expected graduation date and degree, advisor's name, and, if available, a URL for a working Web page.
2. If applicable, the title(s) of the paper(s) to be presented by the student (author or co-author) at the meeting.
3. A detailed expense list, in US dollars.
4. Other travel funds that are available to the student (optional).
5. Statement from the student’s advisor indicating availability of funds, reason(s) the student is deserving of a travel award, and any special circumstances.

Deadlines

Complete applications must be received at the SIAM office no later than November 29, 2004.

Winner will be notified by December 10, 2004. Checks for the awards will be given to the winning students when they arrive at the meeting and check in at the SIAM Registration Desk.

Selection

A SIAM committee will select the awardees. The list of winners will be submitted to IBM Research.
