Partial Differential Equations in Image Processing

2:00 PM-2:45 PM
Room: Rio Mar 5
Chair: Tony F. Chan, University of California, Los Angeles, USA

In this presentation, the speaker will provide a review of the PDE's proposed at the end of the last century for image processing. Most of these PDE's are concerned with image smoothing and are parabolic or parabolic degenerate (mean curvature motion). Some are involved in image restoration (the total variation model and the Absolutely Minimizing Lipschitz extension). For each one of the models, he will discuss the technological aim, the invariance properties and the numerical implementation. All mentioned PDE's and variational models will be illustrated by experiments on digital images. This is a joint work with Frdric Guichard.
