SIAM has selected Get-A-Way Travel to assist attendees in making travel arrangements. Get-A-Way Travel will make your reservations on USAir or any airline of your choice. Be sure to mention that you are attending the 1997 ACM-SIAM SODA Conference. Get-A-Way Travel will issue your ticket and mail it to you.
Ground Transportation
New Orleans is easy to get to and around! Commercial shuttle bus service is available through Airport Shuttle, which picks up at the airport every 20 minutes outside the baggage claim areas. You can purchase your tickets directly from the van drivers. The cost is approximately $10.00 one way. Cab fare is approximately $21.00 each way. These rates are subject to change in 1997.
Driving Directions to Le Meridien Hotel from the airport.
The hotel is 15 miles from the airport, approximately a 25-minute drive. Take I-10 West to the downtown area. Take the Poydra exit (Superdome) about nine blocks to Camp Street. Make a left at Camp Street and go two blocks to Common Street. The hotel is on the right off of Common Street.
Car Rentals
Many major car rental companies have offices inside the airport terminal. You can make your arrangements when you arrive at the airport or your travel agent can assist you in making rental-car reservations at the time you make your flight reservations.
Weather
New Orleans has a balmy subtropical climate, with average temperature of 70oF and an annual total rainfall of 63 inches. In the spring, summer and fall, lightweight clothing is most comfortable. During winter months, heavier clothing is advisable. Average temperature during the first week of January is in the low to mid 50o F.
