Welcome back to Snowbird and the Third SIAM Conference on the Applications of Dynamical Systems.
The conference has grown significantly since the last meeting in 1992, and it looks like it will be a great meeting! In the program, you will find ten invited presentations, 46 minisymposia, 28 sessions of contributed papers, and a poster session. These cover a wide range of interesting and timely topics. Popular topics at this conference include the control of chaotic systems, time series analysis, and the application of dynamical systems techniques to fluids and to pattern formation in PDEs. Sessions on applications to physical, electrical, mechanical, biological and chemical systems are also prominent.
Another special feature of this conference is the short course by Jim Yorke and Robert Devaney on May 20.
We feel that the program presents an exceptionally strong group of speakers, minisymposia and contributed papers in areas that should be of great interest to SIAM members in general and to SIAG/DS members in particular. To these individuals and to all who organized minisymposia or agreed to present papers at the conference, we offer our appreciation. The success which we feel certain the conference will enjoy is due to your participation.
