We urge you to make your hotel reservations immediately. This meeting appears to be extremely popular and if you want a room near the meeting location, we suggest you book your sleeping room now! You may do so by calling any of the hotels listed above or mailing in the Hotel Reservation Form to the hotel of your choice. Remember, the hotel will not actually charge your credit card until you check into the hotel, or on the scheduled date of your arrival. If you choose to make your reservation by phone, please be certain to identify yourself as an attendee of the First SIAM Conference on Computational Science and Engineering, scheduled September 21-24, 2000, to receive the discounted rate. Remember when making your reservation, request a confirmation number.

Hotel Deadline

Hotel reservations must be made by August 14, 2000.

Hotel Room-Sharing List

Please submit the Hotel Room-Sharing List Form if you are interested in sharing a room with another attendee to reduce expenses.

Location

The Wyndham City Center Hotel and the Best Western New Hampshire Suites Hotel are next door to one another, situated in the heart of Washington D.C., midway between the White House and Georgetown. The Wyndham Bristol is just two blocks away.

Deposit

All three hotels require a deposit equivalent to one night's room rate, approximately $160.00 per night, to guarantee your reservation. The hotel(s) accept American Express, MasterCard, Visa, or check as a form of payment. When making your reservation, request a confirmation number. The hotel(s) will send out written confirmation if you request one.

Arrivals and Departures

Check-in time is 3:00 p.m. and check-out time is 12:00 noon.

Cancellations

If you need to change or cancel your reservation, you must contact the hotel by 3:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, 48 hours prior to your scheduled arrival to receive a refund of your one night's deposit. Make sure you get a cancellation number from the reservation department.

Dining

Washington D.C. has a wealth of restaurants. Being the nation's capital, Washington offers visitors seemingly endless choices of cuisine. The Concierge at your hotel will be glad to direct you to a restaurant.

Fax & E-mail Capabilities

During the conference, SIAM cannot offer e-mail or Internet access capabilities for individual attendees. Nearby is Kinkos, for easy access to copying, faxing, printing services, and using computers with Windows and Macintosh.

Weather

Washington in September has a comfortable climate with average temperature of 65 degrees F. Light weight clothing with a light coat will be most comfortable. Remember to bring a sweater in case the air conditioning is too cool in the meeting rooms. Average temperature during the first week in September ranges between a low of 53 degrees F to a high of 70 degrees F.
