Structured Linear Algebra Problems in Control

Heike Fassbender

Challenges for the development of numerical methods for control problems include the demand for higher accuracy, robustness of the method with respect to uncertainties in the data or the model, and the need for solving large scale problems. In order to address these demands it is essential to preserve any underlying physical structure of the problem. In this talk it will be demonstrates how these demands can be met to great extent by using the structure of the problem for a number of important tasks in control.
