Hotel Information

The Metropolitan Hotel Toronto is a very refined hotel in the heart of Toronto, close to the financial district, internationally renowned art galleries and museums, Eaton's Centre and the world-class shopping of Bloor Street. Your support in staying at the Metropolitan Hotel Toronto helps keep the conference costs down, which directly affects you. SIAM guarantees the hotel that we will fill a certain number of 'room nights' (rooms per night) during the conference, with penalties which we incurr if too many attendees opt to stay in other hotels in the area or don't indicate to the hotel, that they are with the SIAM conference. At this time, conference costs do not include meeting room rental. If SIAM fails to fill the contracted room block, SIAM is then charged the cost for the meeting rooms on a daily basis, along with a hefty penalty. This will increase future registration fees to cover these additional costs.

SIAM is holding a block of rooms at Metropolitan Toronto. Your support in staying at Metropolitan Toronto helps keep SIAM meeting costs down, which directly affects you as an attendee.

Single/Double $205 CAD = approximately $130 USD
(Aproximately $146 USD including taxes.)

All room rates based on availability.
Rates are subject to prevailing state and local occupancy taxes, currently 12%.

These rooms will be held for SIAM’s exclusive use until Friday October 10, 2003 only. Please be aware SIAM’s room block fills quickly, so we suggest you make your hotel and travel plans early. Reservations made after Friday October 10, 2003 will depend on availability and the above rates will not be in effect. Your reservation is not confirmed until acknowledged in writing by the hotel or verified by phone.

We urge you to make your reservations immediately as we expect a large turnout for this meeting. Fax (1-416-597-6351) or mail the Hotel Reservation Form directly to Metropolitan Toronto. Deposit

Metropolitan Toronto requires a credit card to guarantee your reservation. The hotel accepts American Express, Mastercard, VISA, Diners Club, or Discover as a form of payment. The hotel will send out written confirmations upon request.

Cancellations

If you need to change or cancel your reservation, you must contact the hotel before 5:00 PM at least 48 hours (local time) prior to your scheduled arrival time in order to avoid incurring any charges on your credit card. Remember to get a cancellation number!

Check-In and Check-Out

Check-in time is 3:00 PM and check-out time is 12:00 PM.

Parking

Self-parking is $18.00 CDN per day which is roughly equal to $12.00 USD.

Hotel Room-Sharing List

A hotel room-sharing list is available for those who wish to share a room with another attendee at the conference to reduce expenses. If you are interested in finding a roommate, please fill in and submit the Hotel Room-Sharing List Form. SIAM can only give you the name of other interested attendees; it is up to you to make the arrangements.

Climate

Toronto’s average high for June is 71° Fahrenheit (22°C) and average low is 55° Fahrenheit (13°C). Please remember that meeting room temperatures and personal comfort zones vary widely. It is recommended you bring a sweater or jacket to the sessions.

Fax and E-mail Capabilities

SIAM cannot offer e-mail access for individual attendees. We suggest you bring your own laptop computer and use the telephone line in your room. If you do not have a personal laptop computer, the hotel has a business center at which you can access the Internet for a fee.
