By Air

SIAM has selected TraveLeaders to assist attendees in making travel arrangements. To book your reservations through TraveLeaders, contact Amy Hueber at 1 (800) 698-2424. Be sure to mention you are attending the SIAM Conference on Mathematics for Industry. TraveLeaders will issue your ticket and mail it to you. TraveLeaders’ office hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM Eastern Time. Please be aware there is a fee for this service.

You also have the choice of using your own travel agent or an internet service. There are many web sites available to allow you to search for and purchase airline tickets online. Expedia (www.expedia.com), Orbitz (www.orbitz.com), and Travelocity (www.travelocity.com) are just a few.

Taxis are available from Pearson International Airport to the Metropolitan Hotel Toronto for approximately $40 CDN = approximately $27 USD. Shuttles are also available for approximately $14 CDN = approximately $9.50 USD. Shuttles leave every half hour and drop you off across from the Metropolitan hotel. Ground Transportation

By Train

Amtrak has a rail station in Toronto at Union Station, 65 Front St. West. To make train reservations through Amtrak, call 1-800-USA-RAIL or go to www.amtrak.com. You can also contact TraveLeaders for train tickets. Taxis are available at the train station for transportation to the hotel. Local transit service is also available at the train station; for more information on Toronto’s public transit system visit www.city.toronto.on.ca/ttc/.

Rental Cars

Many major car rental companies have offices inside the airport terminal. You can make your arrangements when you arrive at the airport or you can make them through TraveLeaders or your own travel agent. TraveLeaders can make your car rental reservations at the same time you make your flight reservations. See information above regarding how to reach TraveLeaders.

Driving Directions

If renting a car, please obtain a map and directions from your rental car company. Another option is to visit Mapquest (www.mapquest.com) (DAR please link), or another similar web site. SIAM highly recommends you contact the hotel directly at 1-416-977-5000 for driving directions. However, some suggested driving routes follow:

Toronto from Pearson International Airport
Upon exiting the airport, follow Hwy. 427 South to Q.E.W. East Toronto, continuing East on the Q.E.W., (Q.E.W. will turn into the Gardiner Expressway), exit onto York St. North and stay in the left hand lane, and when on York St. take the left fork at Front St. to University Ave. Continue North on University Ave. until you reach Armoury St., turn right onto Armoury St. and then left onto Chestnut St. The Metropolitan Toronto is located on your left at 108 Chestnut St.

Driving time from the airport to the hotel is approximately 30 minutes.
