Computational Science and Engineering, or CSE, has been accepted as the description of those activities in science and engineering disciplines that depend on computing as their main tool.In fact, with the advent of advanced computer architectures, computing has become an integral part of these disciplines as an essential tool for their advancement in theory and experiment. The speaker will elaborate on this definition of CSE, describe the need for educational programs in this interdisciplinary field, with emphasis on the role of Computer Science, and outline the obstacles to establishing free standing programs in CSE.
