Electronic Textbooks, Classrooms and Laboratories for Education in Computational Sciences (Invited minisymposium)

The existing Global Information Infrastructure (GII), and software (e.g. Mosaic, Netscape, Arena) that efficiently exploits it, has impacted many facets of our life. Education is also being affected, as can be seen by the ever increasing number of courses, especially in Computational Science and Engineering (CS&E), that are making use of electronic resources. In this minisymposium, the speakers will discuss electronic (virtual) classrooms and laboratories and electronic textbooks that are being developed. They will illustrate how these resources can provide new pedagogical approaches to teaching CS&E by using interactive, adaptive multimedia tools which access the power of HPC based CS&E systems.
