  • SIAM Town Meeting
    Thursday, May 13, 7:30 AM - 8:15 AM
    Continental Breakfast

    This is a new event for SIAM and possibly new for any professional society of SIAM's size.  The business meeting has always featured a report on the activities of the society.  This year's report will be the introduction to a Town Meeting discussion about directions in which SIAM is and maybe should be moving.  This is a very active time suggesting opportunities and questions such as:

    • International growth of SIAM and cooperation with other societies;
    • SIAM journals -- and possible new journals and books;
    • Conferences like Computational Science and Engineering in 2000;
    • Activity group meetings and the Annual Meeting itself;
    • and how SIAM can help its members in all their work.
    Your presence and your participation can make this first SIAM Town Meeting a success.  We hope that an open discussion, in all directions, will become a new tradition.
