CAD and Creativity

CAD systems have traditionally aimed to cater mainly to mechanical engineering and architectural design which are somewhat constrained in scope. Other types of design such as industrial design or sculpting, where creativity and aesthetic factors play an important role, require much more flexibility in both modelling capability and user-machine interaction. The speaker will discuss recent work that deals with these requirements, as well as the directions for future research.
