A Message from the
SIAM Activity Group on Control and Systems Theory

Dear Colleagues:

Welcome to Jacksonville, Florida, and to the Fourth SIAM Conference on Control and Its Applications!

This conference displays the field of control theory at the center of the interplay between mathematics, engineering and computer science. A wide range of new results in control and system theory and novel applications will be showcased.

We would like to thank all the members of the Organizing Committee for helping to put together this conference with an exciting variety of plenary speakers and minisymposia. Thanks also to the organizers of the minisymposia and to all the speakers in the plenary sessions, minisymposia, contributed, student sessions, and posters. At this conference, we will be giving prizes to the three best poster presentations. There will also be a dessert reception during the plenary poster session.

The conference organizers are happy to announce that the first Control and Systems Theory Prize will be awarded at this conference to Andrew R. Teel, University of California, Santa Barbara for his outstanding work in this area.

We hope you enjoy the conference and your visit to Jacksonville!
