Information Modeling and Visualization

(Invited Minisymposium)
Sponsored by SIAM Activity Group on Supercomputing

10:30 AM-12:30 PM
Room: Capitol Center

Modeling effective search and navigation strategies for digital libraries and the World Wide Web defines a critical area of current and future research for applied mathematics and computer science. The speakers in this minisymposium focus on the use of the singular value decomposition (both classical and recent generalizations), vector space models, and multi-dimensional projections to develop, improve, and visualize information retrieval. They will demonstrate the important role that computational mathematics plays in the development of conceptual-based document clustering technologies.
