Last Year of Propposals under NSF's Math Sci Priority Area

The NSF Mathematical Sciences Priority Area (MSPA) activity is now in its final year. Under the MSPA, each NSF directorate joins with the Division of Mathematical Sciences (DMS) to support research of common interest to that directorate and DMS. The program solicitation NSF 05-622 for fiscal year 2006( http://www.nsf.gov/funding/pgm_summ.jsp?pims_id=9673 ) explains the scope of the interdisciplinary part of the MSPA. Those activities will continue in fiscal year 2007, and some key due dates are approaching.
The following message from NSF describes the open solicitations for interdisciplinary research under the Mathematical Sciences Priority Area.

This message concerns proposal submission to the MSPA interdisciplinary activities with Astronomy (MSPA-AST), Chemistry (MSPA-CHE), Materials Research (MSPA-MR), and Engineering (MSPA-ENG); see the list below.
1. MSPA-AST: Proposals appropriate for consideration under the "Interactions between the Mathematical Sciences and the Physical Sciences" (Section II.3. in NSF 05-622) pertaining to interactions with astronomy should be submitted directly to a disciplinary program in DMS or to the Astronomy and Astrophysics Research Grants (AAG) program of the Division of Astronomical Sciences (AST). Proposal submission must adhere to the due date of the program chosen. The program chosen for submission should be the most natural home to the science of the project. The proposal title should start with the phrase "MSPA-AST:"

2. MSPA-CHE: Proposals appropriate for consideration under the "Interactions between the Mathematical Sciences and the Physical Sciences" (Section II.3. in NSF 05-622) pertaining to interactions with Chemistry should be submitted directly to a disciplinary program in DMS and must adhere to the due date of the program. The program chosen for submission should be the most natural home to the science of the project. The proposal title should start with the phrase "MSPA-CHE:"

3. MSPA-MR: Proposals appropriate for consideration under the "Interactions between the Mathematical Sciences and the Physical Sciences" (Section II.3. in NSF 05-622) pertaining to interactions with Materials Research should be submitted directly to a disciplinary program in DMS and must adhere to the due date of the program. The program chosen for submission should be the most natural home to the science of the project. The proposal title should start with the phrase "MSPA-MR:"

4. MSPA-ENG: Proposals appropriate for consideration under the "Interactions between the Mathematical Sciences and Engineering"
(Section II.2. in NSF 05-622) should be submitted directly to a disciplinary program in either DMS or the Directorate of Engineering
(ENG) and must follow the due date of that program. The program chosen for submission should be the most natural home to the science of the project, however, secondary programs may also be selected. The proposal Title should start with the phrase "MSPA-ENG:" and proposals should briefly self-identify with clear language in the Project Summary that they are appropriate for cooperative consideration between DMS and the pertinent division in ENG.
