NSF Encourages Collaborative Efforts with China in Math

The U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) announced recently an agreement made between the Division of Mathematical Science (DMS) and the Department of Mathematical and Physical Sciences (DMPS) of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) to support joint projects between U.S.-based and China-based researchers in the mathematical sciences.
According to the recent announcement, "NSF will accept requests for funding from collaborative teams in the form of a supplement to an existing award to DMS disciplinary programs." Research partners may request up to $20,000 U.S. and 80,000 RMB from their respective national funding agency (NSF or NSFC) per year for no more than two years.
Requests should be submitted to the disciplinary programs designated by the Principal Investigator (PI) before January 19, 2007.
