SIAM 2007 Election Information

Again, this year, SIAM members will have the option of voting electronically; members can vote in the 2007 SIAM election either through a website or by traditional paper ballot.

An e-mail message will be sent on September 10 to notify all SIAM members with valid e-mail addresses on file that they will receive voting instructions by e-mail on September 18, and offering them the option of receiving paper ballots instead.

SIAM will send a paper ballot to anyone who does not have a valid e-mail address or who explicitly requests a paper ballot. You can request a paper ballot by sending an e-mail message to [email protected], indicating your desire to receive a paper ballot, or by telephoning SIAM Customer Service +1-215-382-9800 or (US and Canada only) 1-800-447-7426.

If you receive a paper ballot but decide that you prefer to vote electronically, the paper ballot provides the information necessary to vote on-line. Please feel free to change your mind and vote via the Internet.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How can I ensure delivery of election notices if I have SPAM filtering?

A. If you use a spam filter, you will want to "whitelist" two e-mail addresses: [email protected] and [email protected] . The first is used to send e-mail specifically related to the Internet voting process, including log-in information. The second address is used for general information related to the election.

Q. Where can I find information on the candidates?

A. Candidate information will be posted on SIAM 's website, on the voting website and in the "ballot book" that is mailed with the paper ballot.

Q. I asked for a "Paper Ballot" last year. Will I have to ask again this year?

A. No. Those members that specifically requested a paper ballot last year will automatically receive a paper ballot this year and will not receive any election related e-mail messages. The option to receive a paper ballot for the SIAM general election is maintained as part of each member's profile. Members may change their ballot preference through the on-line customer service website at http://my.siam.org or by contacting SIAM Customer Service.

Q. What if SIAM has my old e-mail address that is no longer valid?

A. Generally, use of an invalid e-mail address results in a delivery failure notice to SIAM . SIAM will actively update its database to remove any e-mail address that results in a delivery failure and will send that member a paper ballot as a result.
