David Gottlieb November 14, 1944 - December 6, 2008

David Gottlieb, Professor of Applied Mathematics at Brown University and colleague to many members of the SIAM community, passed away on December 6, 2008.

Gottlieb's last SIAM lecture was the distinguished John von Neumann Lecture delivered at the 2008 SIAM Annual Meeting in San Diego, California. Gottlieb's John von Neumann Lecture may be heard online.

David Gottlieb will be remembered by his friends and colleagues in the community.
