Undergraduate applied math students win prizes

Present posters on research at SIAM Annual Meeting
Undergraduates in applied and computational math participated in the second annual SIAM undergraduate poster session on July 7 at the 2009 Annual Meeting of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics in Denver, Colorado. The interactive and informal session included nineteen entries from students throughout the country who demonstrated their research to conference attendees using the poster format.

The SIAM Education Committee sponsored the undergraduate poster session and prizes were funded by The MathWorks, Inc. The authors of the top five winning posters, which were determined by a panel of ten faculty judges, each received student editions of MATLAB and a $100 cash prize. The session was organized by Andrew Bernoff and Rachel Levy, both from Harvey Mudd College, and Chad Topaz from Macalester College.
