SIAM Activity Group on Linear Algebra Elects New Officers

The SIAM Activity Group on Linear Algebra (SIAG/LA) has completed its election, and announces its new officers whose terms begin January 1, 2010. Officers are elected to three-year terms.

The new officers are:

• Chair: Michele Benzi
• Vice Chair: Andreas Frommer
• Secretary: H. Sue Thorne (nee Dollar)
• Program Director: Chen Greif

One hundred sixty-five (165) members of the SIAG cast a vote in the election. Comments sent in by voters have been passed along to officers of the SIAG.

The SIAG/LA runs the triennial SIAM Conference on Applied Linear Algebra next held in 2012.

The SIAG/LA also maintains a website and an electronic newsletter, and awards the SIAM Activity Group on Linear Algebra Prize every three years.

SIAG/LA organizes a triennial summer school: The SIAG/LA International Summer School on Numerical Linear Algebra.
