SIAG/SC Awards to Dongarra and Madduri

May 27, 2010

SIAM would like to congratulate Jack Dongarra and Kamesh Madduri, recipients of the 2010 Career and Junior Scientist Prizes in Supercomputing, respectively. The awards were given at the SIAM Conference on Parallel Processing for Scientific Computing and are the first of two sets of prizes awarded annually by SIAG/SC. Jack Dongarra was acknowledged for the significance of his development of dense linear algebra libraries and standardized benchmarks to high performance computing, in addition to the value of his leadership in the field. Kamesh Madduri received the honor for his contributions to combinatorial scientific computing, and for the design of high-performance, multithreaded algorithms for the analysis of large-scale complex networks, which have wide-ranging applications in genomics, social network analysis and security.
