Emmanuel Candes Wins Waterman Award

Emmanuel Candes is this year's recipient of the Natonal Science Board's Alan T. Waterman Award, the highest award given by the National Science Foundation. The announcement appears on the NSF web site (http://www.nsf.gov) and was covered in L.A. Candes is an applied mathematician in the Division of Engineering and Applied Science at the California Institute of Technology.

Emmanuel Candes will be delivering an invited plenary lecture at the SIAM Conference on Imaging Science (http://www.siam.org/meetings/is06/index.htm) May 15-17, 2006, in Minneapolis.

Candes also won the 2005 SIAM James H. Wilkinson Prize (see http://www.siam.org/prizes/sponsored/wilkinson.php).
