DOE Announces SciDAC II Awards

DOE has posted the results of the Phase II SciDAC competition. SciDAC is the DOE Office of Science program Scientific Discovery through Advanced Computation.

The new list of centers and institutes may be found at the SciDAC web site http://www.scidac.gov/aboutSD.html.

The list includes one institute and three centers in applied mathematics that total roughly $9 million per year. The two institutes and 5 centers in computer science total about $18.6 million per year.

The web site contains a description of each institute and center: it scientific goals, participating institutions, and key individuals.

The total amount of projects funded over SciDAC in this announcement total roughly $60 million per year. Other computational science projects fall within application areas such as global climate change and environmental cleanup.
