Complex Networks: From the Internet to the Cell

8:30 AM - 9:15 AM
Room: Imperial Ballroom - ML
Chair: James (Mac) Hyman, Los Alamos National Laboratory

The emergence of many networks of scientific of technological interest are driven by self-organizing processes that are governed by simple but generic laws. Here I will discuss some of the common organizing principles seen in different complex networks, from the world wide web to the cell. I will also discuss how these organizing principles impact our ability to understand a system's robustness, and will cover some applications to cellular functions and human diseases.
